Build Summary

Our DUO Vario chicken coop was developed for approx. 25 – 45 normal-sized chickens. It is one of our larger chicken coop models and is also purchased by private households. The DUO is also often used in agriculture.

360 degree view (without grille)
The special feature of the DUO VARIO is the dividing grid, which is included with every VARIO hen house. This can be used to separate the chickens into 2 groups. You can then adapt the subdivision to your current needs in just a few simple steps.

Like all our chicken coops, our DUO is designed for species-appropriate chicken housing . It offers plenty of light for the animals and is well ventilated. In addition, the sophisticated design of our coops with external laying nests and detachable perches offers us humans a great deal of comfort.

Our DUO chicken coop, like all our coops, is made exclusively from high-quality materials such as aluminum and sandwich panels. These panels have very high insulation values. All our coops are therefore 100% winter-proof. Finally, all HeiniCoop chicken coops are of course very easy to clean because there are no cracks for mites to hide in.

You are welcome to contact us before you buy a stable. We can also advise you by telephone.

DUO VARIO Chicken Coop Variants:

Here are some ideas for how we can configure your coop.

Before we start building your chicken coop, we will contact you again. Together, we’ll go over the exact positioning of the nesting box and doors. For example, we can move the nesting box further towards the rear if you prefer. We’ll also discuss the placement of any additional windows in detail.

If you’re unsure which coop or configuration best suits your needs and conditions, don’t hesitate to get advice from us.

Port, starboard, man overboard?
Are we on a ship or what?!

Chicken coop illustration

Of course not!
But in the heat of the moment, misunderstandings can easily occur.
Left or right — from whose perspective? The chicken’s, from inside? Or from outside? Depending on the viewpoint, left becomes right and right becomes left. With models like the TRES, which are almost square, it gets even more confusing.

That’s why we’ve introduced nautical terms such as port, starboard, bow, and stern to describe positions on our coops. It may seem unusual at first, but it has proven very effective in practice.

When discussing the placement of doors, nesting boxes, and windows, please use these terms.
“Can I have another window on the starboard side?” is, for example, a request that cannot be misunderstood.

A grateful “Arrr!” from our workshop crew.

Questions and Answers:

How many chickens fit in the coop?

Our recommendation refers to standard-sized chickens.

Using the example of a DUO VISTA chicken coop (designed for 12–20 standard-sized chickens):

If you keep very large breeds such as Jersey Giants or Brahmas, fewer chickens will comfortably fit on the perches.

With smaller breeds or bantams, more chickens can fit.

Chickens like to cuddle, but they still need space.

In winter, they sit close together, which may give the impression that more chickens could fit—but each one still needs space to get onto the perch.

In summer, they prefer more distance.

Pecking order in the coop

With overcrowding, lower-ranking chickens may not get space on the perch and will have to sleep on the floor.

Too few chickens in winter

Too few chickens are also not ideal, as they heat the coop with their body warmth. A well-insulated coop is not heated—the chickens themselves provide the warmth. Chickens generally tolerate cold well, as long as the bedding is dry and there are no drafts.

Chicken Coop FAQs
Do I need a foundation for a HeiniCoop?
A foundation is not required. The coop is fully enclosed and insulated from below, preventing predators from digging in.

However, placing it directly on soil is not recommended, as it may sink over time. We recommend using concrete slabs (e.g., 50×50 cm) under the feet.

If the ground is uneven, you can level it using multiple slabs. A slight slope toward the door is helpful for cleaning.

In high-traffic areas, such as entrances, additional slabs are recommended to prevent mud buildup.

What customizations are possible?
We offer adjustments for nesting boxes, perch positions, windows, drainage direction, and chicken door placement.

All customizations depend on the internal structure and must be coordinated accordingly.

How is the coop delivered?
Delivery is usually handled by freight carrier to the curb.

Smaller models can be unloaded without special equipment. Larger models (such as DUO) require a forklift or loader provided by the customer.

Self-collection is also possible.

Can I order custom dimensions?
Unfortunately, custom sizes are not possible. Our coops are designed as a standardized system optimized for materials and transport logistics.

Qualität

DUO VARIO Chicken Coops – High-quality, durable, and built for everyday use.

These are the three core pillars of our chicken coop production.

The founder of the HeiniCoop team grew up with chickens from an early age. Since then, this wonderful hobby has never left him. With around 50 years of experience in poultry keeping of all kinds, he is a true expert in the field.

None of our coops leave production without final approval from the senior master. Only a perfectly crafted coop receives the HeiniCoop quality seal before it begins its journey to the customer.

Over the years, he developed the first prototypes initially for his own chickens, later for friends. He experimented and refined them until the optimal chicken coop was created — a HeiniCoop. Once he was fully satisfied with the result, the former industrial hall builder began his new life’s work. Since then, several additional coop models have been added to the range.

Only the best, easy-to-clean, and durable materials are used. That’s why you’ll enjoy your coop every time you visit your chickens.

Excellent advice and high customer satisfaction define our service.

Your HeiniCoop Team.

Sauberkeit

The coop is designed to be especially easy to keep clean.
Large doors provide convenient access to the interior, allowing bedding to be changed quickly and the coop to be cleaned without effort.

A clean environment is essential for the health of your chickens and helps prevent parasites and diseases.

Wärme und Stallschutz

The DUO VARIO chicken coop is designed to protect your chickens from wind, weather, and drafts.
Its insulated construction ensures a balanced internal climate and protects the animals from strong temperature fluctuations.

At the same time, large insulated glass windows allow plenty of natural light into the coop, creating a comfortable environment for your chickens.

High-quality, durable, suitable for everyday use = quality from a specialist

HeiniCoop stands for quality from Germany

Mobile chicken coop (roll package)

With the roll package, your HeiniCoop chicken coop becomes mobile in no time at all. Castors mounted under the hutch make it easy to move the hutch to a new location in the garden or run.

This protects the soil and your chickens always have fresh grass under their feet.

Automatic chicken door

The automatic chicken door opens and closes the coop automatically - without any action on your part. A reliable control system moves the door automatically at the desired times or depending on daylight.

This makes everyday life more comfortable and increases the safety of your animals at the same time. Even if you are away for a longer period of time, the coop is reliably closed and your chickens are protected from nocturnal predators.

Additional window in the chicken coop

An additional window brings more daylight into the barn and ensures a pleasant barn climate. Chickens particularly benefit from natural light conditions as they feel more comfortable and can follow their natural rhythm.

At the same time, you get a better view into the barn. This means you can quickly check how your chickens are doing at any time without having to enter the coop.

XL door package

The XL door package gives your coop a significantly larger chicken door. This allows larger chicken breeds or several animals to enter the run at the same time.

The larger opening also makes it easier to clean the coop and access it when handling your chickens on a daily basis. This extension is a practical and convenient solution, especially for larger barns.

Light in the henhouse

With a power connection and light in the coop, you can provide your henhouse with optimum lighting at all times. This makes it easier to check on your animals - especially in the early hours of the morning or in the evening.

The lighting also allows you to take better care of the hutch, for example when cleaning or collecting the eggs. This means you always have an overview, even in poor lighting conditions.
