Our DUO chicken coop was developed for approx. 25 – 45 normal-sized chickens. It is one of our larger chicken coop models and is also purchased by private households. The DUO is also often used in agriculture. Some retirement homes already have a few DUO models in their gardens. This provides the residents with fresh eggs for breakfast and constant variety thanks to the colorful troop of chickens.
Like all our chicken coops, our DUO is designed for species-appropriate chicken housing . It offers plenty of light for the animals and is well ventilated. In addition, the well thought-out design with external laying nests and detachable perches offers us humans a great deal of comfort.
Our DUO chicken coop, like all our coops, is made exclusively from high-quality materials such as aluminum and sandwich panels. These panels have very high insulation values. All our coops are therefore 100% winter-proof. Finally, all HeiniCoop chicken coops are of course very easy to clean because there are no cracks for mites to hide in.
You are welcome to contact us before you buy a stable. We can also advise you by telephone.
Here are some ideas on how we can design your coop.
Before we build your chicken coop, we will contact you again. At that point, we’ll discuss the exact position of the nest and the door. For example, we can move the nest a bit further towards the rear if you prefer. We will also go over the placement of any additional windows in detail.
If you’re unsure which coop or variant best suits your needs and setup, feel free to get advice.
Port, starboard, man overboard? Are we on a ship or what?!
Of course not!
But in the heat of the moment, misunderstandings can happen. Left or right — from whose perspective? The chicken’s, from the inside? Or from the outside? Then left becomes right and right becomes left. With the TRES, which is almost square, it gets even more confusing.
For this reason, we have started using port, starboard, bow, and stern as position references for our coops. It may sound unusual at first, but it has proven very effective in practice.
When defining the position of doors, nests, and windows, please stick to these terms. For example, “Can I have another window on the starboard side?” is a statement that cannot be misunderstood. A grateful “Arrr!” from the workshop team.

Chicken coop for 25–45 standard-sized chickens
Our recommendations are based on standard-sized chickens.
If you keep very large breeds such as Jersey Giants or Brahmas, fewer animals will comfortably fit on the perches. On the other hand, smaller or bantam chickens allow for a higher number of birds.
Chickens like to cuddle, but they still need enough space.
In winter, they will huddle closely together. It may seem like there is still space left, but don’t be misled. They first need enough room to jump onto the perches. In summer, when temperatures are higher, they prefer more personal space.
Pecking order
If the coop is overcrowded, lower-ranking chickens may not get space on the perches and will have to sleep on the ground.
Too few chickens in winter
Too few chickens are also not ideal, as they heat the coop with their body warmth. For example, keeping only two silkies in a large coop may result in colder conditions during winter.
Chicken Coop FAQ
Do I need a foundation for a HeiniCoop chicken coop?
All HeiniCoop coops are fully enclosed and insulated from below. A foundation is not required.
However, placing the coop directly on soft ground is not recommended, as it may sink over time. Concrete paving slabs (approx. 50 × 50 cm) placed under the feet of the coop are sufficient.
If your terrain has a slope, you can level it using multiple slabs. A slight incline towards the door is beneficial for cleaning.
What customizations are possible?
Various adjustments are possible, including nesting box positioning, perch height, window placement, rain gutter direction, and chicken door positioning.
All adjustments are made while ensuring compatibility with the internal structure of the coop.
Shipping – how is the coop delivered?
Delivery is usually carried out via freight forwarding and is made to the curbside.
For DUO models, a forklift or front loader is required for unloading and must be provided by the customer.
Smaller models (CERO, UNO, TRES) can be unloaded by the driver.
Can I order the coop in a different size?
Unfortunately, the dimensions cannot be changed. Our coops are built based on a fixed system to ensure material efficiency and optimized shipping.
DUO Chicken Coops – High quality, durable, and built for everyday use.
These are the three core principles behind our chicken coop production.
The founder of the HeiniCoop team grew up with chickens from an early age. Since then, this passion has never left him. With around 50 years of experience working with poultry of all kinds, he is a true expert in the field.
No coop leaves our workshop without being personally inspected by the senior master. Only perfectly crafted coops receive the HeiniCoop seal before making their way to you.
Over the years, he first developed prototypes for his own chickens, then for friends. He refined and improved them continuously until the ideal chicken coop was created — a true HeiniCoop.
Once fully satisfied, the former industrial hall builder began his life’s work. Since then, the product range has expanded with many additional coop models.
We only use premium, easy-to-clean, and long-lasting materials. That’s why you’ll enjoy your coop every single day when you visit your chickens.
Professional consultation and high customer satisfaction are at the heart of our service.

Mobile chicken coop (roll package)
With the roll package, your HeiniCoop chicken coop becomes mobile in no time at all. Castors mounted under the hutch make it easy to move the hutch to a new location in the garden or run.
This protects the soil and your chickens always have fresh grass under their feet.
Automatic chicken door
The automatic chicken door opens and closes the coop automatically - without any action on your part. A reliable control system moves the door automatically at the desired times or depending on daylight.
This makes everyday life more comfortable and increases the safety of your animals at the same time. Even if you are away for a longer period of time, the coop is reliably closed and your chickens are protected from nocturnal predators.
Additional window in the chicken coop
An additional window brings more daylight into the barn and ensures a pleasant barn climate. Chickens particularly benefit from natural light conditions as they feel more comfortable and can follow their natural rhythm.
At the same time, you get a better view into the barn. This means you can quickly check how your chickens are doing at any time without having to enter the coop.
XL door package
The XL door package gives your coop a significantly larger chicken door. This allows larger chicken breeds or several animals to enter the run at the same time.
The larger opening also makes it easier to clean the coop and access it when handling your chickens on a daily basis. This extension is a practical and convenient solution, especially for larger barns.
Light in the henhouse
With a power connection and light in the coop, you can provide your henhouse with optimum lighting at all times. This makes it easier to check on your animals - especially in the early hours of the morning or in the evening.
The lighting also allows you to take better care of the hutch, for example when cleaning or collecting the eggs. This means you always have an overview, even in poor lighting conditions.
